Dr. Spyros Xanthopoulos is Research Fellow at the Management Science and Technology Department of Athens University of Economics and Business. He was born in Athens in 1973.
He graduated from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London in 1995 and did his PhD on Digital Signal Processing in the same department, under the supervision of Professor A.G. Constantinides. He then worked for two years in Paribas in London in the Pricing Analytics Team of equity derivatives.
His research interests focus in the area of Risk Management, Quantitative Finance and Financial Engineering, in particular on Emissions, Weather and Energy Derivatives. He teaches the subject "Financial Engineering" in DMST and his current research is funded partly by the Financial Research Center (FRC) of AUEB - and by organizations including the Agricultural Bank of Greece and the Bank of Greece.
