Dr. Aikaterini Fameli holds a PhD in healthcare management from the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (2012), an MBA-TQM European Master in Business Administration-Total Quality Management from University of Piraeus and Linkoping University of Sweden (dissertation marked with distinction) (2005) and a BSc in Social Administration from Democritus University of Thrace (2003). Her research interests include health management policy and reforms, change management, health economics and pharmacoeconomics. Dr. Fameli has published articles in European and International peer-reviewed conference proceedings including the European Health Management Association Conference (EHMA AC 2011, 2012) and the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare co-sponsored by IHI and the BMJ Publishing Group (2012). For the past years, she has acted as special advisor at the Hellenic Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport and Communications and served as scientific personnel at the Social Security Fund (IKA) and EOPYY. She has also lectured both at undergraduate and postgraduate programs in her areas of expertise (TEI of Athens, University of Crete, University of Peloponnese). In parallel to her research and academic activities, she has participated as speaker in conferences and seminars, both in Greece and Europe. Currently, she works as Special Advisor to the Minister of Health, member of the committee monitoring the application of the Greek Adjustment Program in the healthcare area.
